When a person has incurred funeral expenses for an individual who died of COVID-19 after January 20, 2020 they may be eligible for assistance. Call the FEMA COVID Helpline: 844-684-6333 starting April 12, 2021

  • Information needed to apply:
    • Social Security Number for both the applicant and the deceased individual
    • Date of birth for both the applicant and the deceased individual
    • Current mailing address & phone number for the applicant
    • Income of household (program is not income dependent)
    • Location address where the death occurred (located on death certificate)
    • Funeral insurance policy (if applicable)
    • Information about other financial assistance received, such as donations for the funeral
    • Banking information for direct deposit

  • Probation Office for Brown County located in Mills County Courthouse - Mills County will resume in-person appointments on May 20.  For any questions, please contact the Brownwood office at 325-646-6475.

    Community/Senior Center - To protect our most at-risk population, Hill Country Community Action and the Mills County Community Center will remain closed to the public until further notice.  We are still providing meals to our homebound clients via delivery and our congregate clients via pickup.  If you or someone you know is in need of meals, please contact the Center at 325-648-3122.

    Texas Department of Motor Vehicles - Vehicle Registration will be closed effective Monday, March 23.  If you require assistance please call 325-648-3879.  You may renew your vehicle registration online at txdmv.gov. 

    Texas Department of Public Safety - All Driver's License offices in the State EXCEPT those that provide commercial test are closed until April 3.  WHEN the Mills County Driver's License office located on the 3rd floor of the courthouse reopens, it will be by appointment only.  You may check for an appointment time at https://txdpsscheduler.com.  If you are eligible to complete your transaction on-line, you will NOT be served at this location.  Please check your eligibility at https://texas.gov/#drivers.
